Hi there!
My name is Tommy and I am a 21-year-old cellist looking to share the knowledge that I have gained for close to a decade.
I have a great understanding of the instrument and have mastered a lot of repertoire. I'd like to think I have a very unique way of teaching the techniques involved since I stress the importance of understanding our body's biomechanics such as our skeleton and muscles to fully optimize our technique with minimal effort. I have gained a lot of my performance experience at the Colburn School of Music located in Downtown LA right next to the Disney Concert Hall where the LA Philharmonic plays their concerts. I was consistently put on the honors recitals in Thayer Hall and praised by my mentor and faculty of Colburn with on a bi-monthly basis for showing passion and mastery of the Cello.
I have gained most of my teaching experience from my local middle school orchestras coordinating with the music teachers there to provide students who couldn't afford private lessons with quality and fun group lessons where everyone learned something by the end of the school year (Not to mention the HUGE improvements within their cello section which allowed them to win school district competitions multiple years in a row) as well as Colburn through a program called Musical Encounters where we had the great opportunity of performing and giving a mini-lecture on our respective instruments in the gentrified areas of the Los Angeles School District.
I have and had students who audition for their local high-level youth orchestra contact me to work on the materials needed to beat other competitions to get their spot in the orchestras.
