Welcome! My name is Dean, and I'm a tutor, Executive Functioning coach, and educational consultant who has spent the past decade providing 1-on-1 support for students of diverse experiences and learning profiles. That work has shown me that students thrive when they are taught in a way that complements their unique learning style.
My goal is for your student to walk away from each of our sessions feeling more empowered, confident, and independent in their learning – and that they leave each session saying “Wow, I can do it!”
Your student can do it. Let’s get started! Here's a little bit more about my experience and approach:
Experience: Over 2,500 hours of teaching students in pre-K, K-12, college, and beyond. That’s ages 5-45, providing support for all subjects, both in-person and virtually. I’ve also designed and led over 500 hours of professional development trainings for educators, helping them to refine their teaching skills.
Subjects: All of them! My specialties include advanced English Literature (Honors, AP), advanced Math (up to AP Calculus), and advanced Science courses (Chemistry, Physics, AP Biology). For standardized testing support, I’ve prepared students for the ACT, the New SAT, Advanced Placement (AP) Exams, ISEE/SSAT, and HSPT/SHSAT. (Bonus: I also privately teach music theory and music lessons in guitar and related instruments.)
Ethos: I emphasize skill-building, not just content mastery. Rather than simply reviewing concepts, I offer students discrete study skills, time management tools, and executive functioning techniques that they can apply across subjects and throughout their academic career.
Clients: I take a whole-student approach, meeting students at their level. I’ve worked with a broad range of learning profiles, including advanced students, students with ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, anxiety, processing skills challenges, or a combination thereof.
Feel free to message me to learn more, or to schedule a free consultation. I can't wait to hear from you!
