Hi! I'm Katerina, and I have a passion for helping students improve their writing. I have spent over four years helping teach undergraduate students better refine their writing skills. As a teaching assistant at Pasadena City College and at UCLA, I gained experience both in person and online, as well as with large lectures and one on one meetings helping address students' individual needs.
In that time, while I was refining my approach, I found myself deeply disappointed with how many students are not given adequate writing support. Most high schools do not provide the instruction necessary to succeed at college level writing, and all too often students are thrown into the deep end, without the tools they need to to be effective writers. Too often, writing is a skill one is expected to just pick up along the way, without the structured guidance students deserve.
My personal background in writing comes from my years long post graduate career, writing on the topic of Cinema and Media Studies. While the field itself is highly specialized, writing is at its core, as with so many other fields. I have previously been published in an academic, peer reviewed journal, and have years of experience helping introductory students as well as academic peers hone their writing skills.
No matter what topic you are writing in, from STEM to literary theory, I'm happy to help you with expressing your work as strongly as possible through writing.
