About Me: Native Chinese Instructor & Narrative Specialist
I am a native Chinese speaker and a graduate of Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, where I earned my BA in Film Studies. My professional background as a filmmaker, screenwriter, and published photographer has given me a deep, sophisticated command of storytelling and linguistic nuance. I approach language learning not just as a set of grammar rules, but as a tool for clear, impactful communication.
My teaching experience began as a volunteer English teacher in rural Southern China, where I spent three months leading a 2nd-grade classroom. Teaching young students required me to develop highly engaging, patient, and simplified methods to build their foundational vocabulary from the ground up. I carry this same adaptability into my Chinese tutoring today, whether I am helping a beginner master basic tones or assisting an advanced student with professional-level conversation and media literacy. By combining my academic rigor from Chapman with my real-world experience in the creative industries, I help my students achieve fluency that feels both natural and professional.
