I'm Greg, a UCSD student majoring in Electrical Engineering, and I graduated high school with a weighted GPA of over 4.2. I'm Greg, a UCSD student majoring in Electrical Engineering, and I graduated high school with a weighted GPA of over 4.2. I find both math and physics to be among the most interesting and enjoyable subjects I've had throughout my time in school, and that's mainly because of the teachers I've had. So, my goal is to be the type of tutor who can help guide you through learning those subjects while showing how interesting they are at the same time. My favorite classes to tutor are Calculus 1 (or Calculus AB in high school) and Physics 1, but I'm also quite proficient in other classes as well.
I already have one school year's worth of tutoring, which was when I was tutoring for Integrated Math 2 (quadratics, trigonometry, etc.) in my junior year of high school. It was a double-math class, and I was assisting three students (one junior and two sophomores) who were taking the class while getting help during a seperate class period. I spent that whole year actively making sure that each person was understanding the topics taught in their class, regardless of how much time they needed to fully learn each one. The most fulfilling part of that experience was watching as their grades went up in real time, the most drastic change being from an F to a B, and that fulfillment is what makes me want to tutor other people who also need help.
Since I'm still a student myself, it's easier for me to gauge what your classroom experience is like and make plans from there. I also like to work together with my students to figure out what they're having the most trouble with so I can plan accordingly. Even though I can't show up in person, I still make sure to be available for most of the day if anybody needs my help in some way.
