English as a Second Language: In ESL tutoring, I use all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and believe students make better progress by using the skills together. I stress clear and accurate communication and enjoy including aspects of American Culture. I also have experience teaching TOEFL preparation.
Grammar: I offer detailed one-on-one work on all elements of grammar with practice and feedback. I can work with you to find weak spots and provide exercises and activities to improve your abilities.
Literature: For my Doctorate I specialized in American Literature. I also taught literature to university students and international high school students. With this background, I can assist you in understanding literature, interpreting works, learning literary terms and comprehending literary theory.
Composition: I taught English composition at the university level and worked individually with high school students on their college application essays. When working with you, I will provide feedback on structure, content, grammar, diction and clarity to make your work clearer and more expressive.
As a curriculum designer with a language school network, I led a team to create an original textbook series used successfully by many students. I also designed curricula for many classes in test preparation and ESL.
