Hello I’m John, I graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering and have an EIT Certification in the State of California. I have taken Calculus 1, 2, and 3 as well as linear algebra, and differential equations and earned’ A’s in all of them. Additionally, I was a top performer in my engineering courses all of which were calculus based, which gave me ample exposure with the real world applications of calculus. I am an enthusiastic learner and understand the deep value of collaboration when learning new things. I have developed a passion for teaching others and sharing what tips I have learned along the way to master a new subject. Throughout my education, I have learned that a combination of the step-by-step problem solving and the intuitive understanding allowed me to be a top performer in my entire mathematics curriculum as well as my calculus based engineering coursework.

I have tutored calculus for over 7 years and I’ve helped my students find confidence in their abilities to understand complex problems and subjects with ease. My pupils have been high school and college aged students working in one on one settings. Everyone has their preferred individual learning style and I strive to find unique methods so that I meet the needs of every pupil. I focus on helping my students develop an understanding of the step-by-step mechanics of specific problem solving; then fostering an intuitive understanding of the topic.

This approach provides students with a strong ability to evaluate and solve material they have encountered before and forms a strong foundation of exam preparation. I strive to help my pupils bridge the gap in intuitive understanding which can make any given subject material daunting. I have found that this method facilitates a longer lasting ability to correctly resolve any given problem, and builds a learner’s confidence in approaching new topics.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have tutored students in Algebra for over 7 years and I was a top performer in my university algebra based math curriculum including, calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. I received an EIT certification from the state of California and I use algebra in everyday applications as a Mechanical Engineer to solve complex real world problems. This affords me a very practiced ability of how to take what can be confusing algebraic manipulations and contextualize them to real world situations which is crucial to understanding, and gaining confidence in Algebra.
Calculus

Calculus

I have tutored students in calculus for 7 years and I was a top performer in my university Calculus curriculum through Calculus 3. I received an EIT certification from the state of California and I use the methods of Calculus as a Mechanical Engineer to solve complex real world problems on a daily basis. This gives me a very thorough understanding of how to take theoretical concepts and make them applicable to the real life which is crucial to understanding, and gaining confidence in Calculus.
Geometry

Geometry

I have tutored students in geometry for 7 years and I was a top performer in my university’s math curriculum through Calculus 3. I received an EIT certification from the state of California and I use the methods of advanced mathematics as a Mechanical Engineer to solve complex real world problems on a regular basis. This gives me a very thorough understanding of how to take theoretical concepts and make them applicable to the real world which is crucial to helping students understand, and gain confidence in mathematics. Geometry introduces us to the methods of proofs that can be intimidating at first for many students. However, once students get some experience working through these problems is not only manageable, but also a helpful way to understand the way math works in general. The challenge with Geometry is getting an intuitive conceptual hold on what you’re learning. However, once you have that you will be equipped with some of the most useful tools to tackle complicated problems as far as you go in your technical education. It is my goal for you to not just get through Geometry, but feel confident going forward in mathematics.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have tutored students in precalculus for 7 years and I was a top performer in my university’s Calculus curriculum through Calculus 3. I received an EIT certification from the state of California and I use the methods of Calculus as a Mechanical Engineer to solve complex real world problems on a daily basis. This gives me a very thorough understanding of how to take theoretical concepts and make them applicable to the real world which is crucial to understanding, and gaining confidence in Calculus. Precalculus outlines some advanced mathematical fundamentals that can be intimidating at first for many students, but after some experience working through problems is manageable. Most of the difficulty students face in Calculus courses comes from missing a solid understanding of the necessary tools precalculus, it is my goal for you to not just get through precalculus, but feel confident going forward in your mathematics education.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have tutored students in Trigonometry for 7 years and I was a top performer in my university’s math curriculum through Calculus 3. I received an EIT certification from the state of California and I use the methods of advanced mathematics as a Mechanical Engineer to solve complex real world problems on a regular basis. This gives me a very thorough understanding of how to take theoretical concepts and make them applicable to the real world which is crucial to understanding, and gaining confidence in mathematics. Trigonometry introduces us to somewhat alien mathematical concepts that can be intimidating at first for many students, but after some experience working through problems is manageable. The challenge with trigonometry is getting an intuitive conceptual hold on what you’re learning. However, once you have that you will be equipped with some of the most useful tools to tackle complicated problems as far as you go in your technical education. It is my goal for you to not just get through trigonometry, but feel confident going forward in your mathematics education.
