I am a credentialed California high school science teacher with CLAD authorization and completed CTEL coursework focused on supporting English learners. I have taught biology, physics, chemistry, engineering, and integrated science for approximately eight years. I have also taught E4USA engineering for two years and participated in professional development in engineering, astronomy, heliophysics, and quantum science. My additional experience includes serving as a NASA HEAT ambassador, leading astronomy professional development for teachers, and participating in QCamp, where I developed quantum science lessons and worked with double-slit investigation equipment.
Most of my teaching experience has been with high school students in grades 9 through 12 in a classroom setting, although I have also provided small-group and individualized academic support. My approach is patient, encouraging, and focused on helping students understand the reasoning behind a concept instead of simply memorizing an answer. I use visuals, models, real-world examples, guided practice, and step-by-step explanations to make difficult science and math concepts more accessible. I also adjust instruction based on each student’s needs and use sentence frames, vocabulary supports, checks for understanding, and opportunities for students to explain their thinking. My goal is to help students improve their academic skills while also becoming more confident and independent learners.
