Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I've tutored K-12 students with an outside tutoring company in Algebra over 100 hours. I try to help students see the origins of algebraic concepts, as opposed to blindly memorizing formulas. I have been invited to teach math courses at middle schools and high schools on three separate occasions.
American History

I've spent roughly 100 hours tutoring students in American History. I have over 50 hours of experience tutoring 7 students in AP United States History. My students have scored 3s and 4s on the APUSH exam. I specialize in improving responses to FRQs (Free Response Questions), such as LEQs (Long Essay Questions) and DBQs (Document Based Questions), partially due to my experience being an essay grader in the biggest essay contest in the world. I constantly expand my knowledge of the history of this country in my spare time by watching documentaries and reading various textbooks. I also earned a 4 on the A.P. US History exam and I earned an A in the course. I enjoy teaching history in an objective way that is apolitical, a-religous, and neutral.

I have 150 hours of experience teaching English (reading, writing, and speaking) to K-Adult students. I make sure that students correctly pronounce words while reading and speaking. I always ask students to explain the main ideas of a text orally and via writing in order to check their reading comprehension. Whenever possible, I ask students to edit their essays so that I can track their progress and see what exactly is still lacking in their writing.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

Most of my experience has involved adults seeking to improve their English at their jobs. I have worked mostly with a Vietnamese-speaker, but I also have experience with Mandarin-speakers, Korean-speakers, Turkish-speakers, and Spanish-speakers. I have helped my students with proper word usage and pronunciation. I was born and raised in Southern California and English is my first and only language. Patient and Knowledgeable Tutor

My daughter was struggling a bit in APUSH and Eric really helped her out. He's knowledgeable and was able to teach my daughter so she could understand the material. He is prompt in showing up and has been flexible scheduling appointments with him. Not only is he a great tutor, but also a wonderful young man. I would highly recommend using him if your child needs help in US History.
