Hello, I’m Rosa! A little bit about myself, I received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and have over 9 years of experience tutoring high school and college students in Pre-Calculus, Algebra 1 & 2, Trigonometry, Geometry and Calculus.

I excelled in Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Statics and tutored STEM college students in these subjects for 4 years in person.

Have over 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer Designer. As I gained experience in both industry and tutoring, I became especially skilled at breaking down complex engineering and math concepts into clear, understandable ideas.

In my sessions, I focus on creating a supportive and safe learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.

When it comes to challenging subjects I like taking a more practical approach, simplifying problems and connecting textbook material to real world scenarios to make the the concepts easy to understand.

My ultimate goal is to help students build confidence and independence by developing a deep understanding of the material, so they feel prepared and capable when it comes to exams.

I can help you with ISEE Exam, AP Physics 1 & 2, AP Physics C, College Physics, AP Pre-Calculus, Algebra I-II, Engineering Economics, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, and HVAC.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I’ve been teaching and mentoring high school students in Algebra I for over six years, and I genuinely love helping students feel more confident with math. For four of those years, I also ran math workshops for students who were struggling, where we worked through assignments together, broke down tricky concepts, and prepped for exams in a way that actually made math feel manageable (and sometimes even fun!). For my education, I have an Associate’s degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, which means I bring both strong math fundamentals and real-world problem-solving into my tutoring sessions.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Tutoring high school in Algebra for 9 years
Calculus

Calculus

I have tutored AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC, as well as college-level calculus, for over 3 years. I work with both high school and college students, helping them build strong foundations and confidently tackle challenging exam and homework problems.
Chemistry

Chemistry

Over five years of experience tutoring Chemistry, helping students succeed in both high school and college-level courses. Strong background in core topics including stoichiometry, chemical reactions, thermochemistry, equilibrium, acids and bases, kinetics, electrochemistry, and nuclear chemistry. Known for clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and building student confidence through guided practice.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I can help with topics like separable equations, integrating factors, first and second-order equations, Laplace transforms, and initial value problems. I focus on helping students understand how to choose the right method and work through problems step-by-step. I’ve tutored college math and engineering courses and have used differential equations concepts in real engineering work. I’m patient and keep sessions clear and low stress.
Econometrics

Econometrics

I received my Associates Degree in Mathematics. I have more than 2 years of tutoring experience in macroeconomics, microeconomics and economics for Engineers. Was a professor assistant for 2 years and held after class sessions for Macro and micro economics.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I’m a certified tutor with 6 years of experience working with elementary students, and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. I focus on building strong math foundations and helping kids really understand the basics. I’ve worked with many students who have a hard time concentrating, so I keep lessons structured, interactive, and easy to follow. I also try to make sessions fun and engaging so students stay interested and feel more confident about learning.
Geometry

Geometry

Experienced Geometry tutor with over five years of experience supporting high school and college students. I hold an Associate’s degree in Mathematics and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, providing a strong and well-rounded math foundation. I help students build confidence and master core geometry concepts.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I have a strong background in Linear Algebra, including matrix operations, determinants, inverses, vector spaces, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, linear transformations, and systems of linear equations. I hold a Mechanical Engineering degree so I focus on helping students understand concepts deeply, build strong problem-solving skills, and see how Linear Algebra applies to real-world engineering and physics problems.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Los Angeles, and have three years of HVAC design experience applying thermodynamics and fluid mechanics in real-world systems. As a Mechanical Engineer designer I became familiar with the ASHRAE, Plumbing, Mechanical and Fire Codes. I’m proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, LoggerPro, C++ and MATLAB, and use these tools extensively for drafting and engineering analysis. I also have two years of experience training Mechanical Engineering designers in reading mechanical and building plans, drafting, and performing HVAC design calculations.
Physics

Physics

I have over four years of experience tutoring physics to high school and college students, helping them build strong conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. I earned an Associate’s degree in Physics and spent two years assisting a physics professor at a community college, supporting instruction and student learning. I also hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Los Angeles, allowing me to connect physics concepts to real-world engineering applications in a clear, practical way.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have over five years of experience tutoring Pre-Algebra and middle school math. I help students strengthen foundational skills such as fractions, decimals, integers, ratios, and basic equations while building confidence and problem-solving ability. My teaching style is patient and structured, with a focus on closing learning gaps and helping students improve their grades.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have been tutoring Pre-Calculus and Calculus to High School students for 5 years.
Spanish

Spanish

I’m a native Spanish speaker with several years of tutoring experience, mainly with elementary and middle school students. I focus on making Spanish fun and accessible while helping students gain confidence in speaking, reading, and understanding the language.
Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

I have three years of experience as an HVAC designer, using thermodynamics and fluid mechanics for duct calculations and system designs. As Propulsion Team Lead for university and community college rocketry clubs, I taught thermodynamics and chemistry to mechanical engineering students for 3 years. I’ve also led Thermodynamics workshops for over two years, helping students master key principles in Thermodynamics.

Fabulous Tutor

Rosa helped my sophomore daughter with her precalculus class. My daughter was feeling overwhelmed and lost and unsure about how to use her graphing calculator. Rosa got her up to speed, helped her figure out the calculator, and made my daughter feel so much better about her upcoming precalc test. Rosa was super responsive and clearly has a gift for tutoring. We will for sure be asking her for tutoring again! I'd highly, highly recommend Rosa.
