As an immigrant who overcame language and academic barriers prior to completing a bachelor's and a master's degree, I can identify with students who struggle academically and I strive to help students succeed through a client-centered approach.
I have over three years of experience as a writing and math tutor. I've helped students with Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, which are now integrated into Math 1, 2, and 3. For Algebra, I've tutored topics including solving systems of linear equations, polynomials, functions, exponents and logarithms. For Geometry, I've tutored proofs of angles and theorems, the Pythagorean theorem, circles, and parabolas. In addition, I have experience tutoring Trigonometry, including changing radians to degrees, graphing transformations, and laws of sins and cosines.
I think that a collaborative, mutually respectful and client-centered tutoring approach helps strengthen students' academic success. My path as an educator has allowed me to assist students with writing strategies and help individual students develop academic strengths and skills throughout the school year. I value helping students achieve academic and professional goals.

Aspiring and Patient Tutor

My son is a Sophomore, and English is a dreadful subject for him. Other kids said negative things about the English teacher's grading technique, and that made it worse. He has been putting off an assignment for a long time, but Hoang helped him to work on it. At this point, he’s excited that it’s almost done. What’s more important to me is seeing him overcoming the challenge and starts to feel more confidence in approaching the assignments. I hope with Hoang’s help, he will slowly transform.
