My name is Fiona. I am a high school math teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. I graduated with a MA in classroom instruction with a multiple subjects credential. I started my teaching career in sixth grade in a junior high school. Thru that experience, I realized I was more suited to focus my teaching in mathematics and I begin to pursue my secondary credential in Math. My name is Fiona. I am a high school math teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. I graduated with a MA in classroom instruction with a multiple subjects credential. I started my teaching career in sixth grade in a junior high school. Thru that experience, I realized I was more suited to focus my teaching in mathematics and I begin to pursue my secondary credential in Math. Once I completed my requirement for secondary credential, I was hired as a small group instructor in Math in a charter school in Compton where I worked with many challenging students. After 7 years of teaching Math, I transitioned to the curriculum department, where I developed and edited various Math Curriculum for the charter schools.

My joy is in seeing students make sense of the problem and identify different ways to approach the solutions. I like using manipulatives and real life situation to help students to develop deeper understanding and to identify patterns in the content. I think it's vital for learners to be a creative problem solver rather than learning a bunch of steps to a solution. It's always amazing when I see students find new ways to understand the problem and feeling confident that they can handle any challenges.

Throughout my teaching career, I was able to teach all the different levels in high school math including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Integrated Math II.
For my last teaching job, I worked in a college prep school that focuses on ACT prep. I prepped over 100 students for the ACT Math.
