About Aldyn

Bio

I started tutoring and pursuing my own artistic career when I was still in High School, and I have over 20 years of tutoring experience.

I graduated second in my class and went on to complete my 4-year degree at U.C. Berkeley right after that, in Studio Art. I've studied and worked with many art forms including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, 3D art, digital art, installation art, and others.

I've even created my own natural paints which were featured in the artwork for a showing in Oakland City Hall, CA, as well.

I've tutored and taught many children, teens, and adults. Through the credentialing program that I completed at SFSU in K-12 Art, I learned a variety of skills to support and guide you/your child in creative expression balanced with each student's particular interests and natural talents.

In the last few years, I taught art to high schoolers with Alliance Charter Schools as well as in LA Unified School District. Since then, I've been pursuing my own entrepreneurial passions and more recently, I've tutored students online in botanical art with Novato, CA Based Electivity Kids.

I've tutored many subjects, with art, including botanical art, as well as creative writing, being my expertise. I've also taught English as a second language and Art overseas in Taipei, Taiwan.

I also do some website design, graphic design, video and sound editing, and related digital projects, media, and marketing. I've pursued other interests too, including studying Psychology, gaining certification in Clinical Herbalism, and working with clients and customers on their holistic health and nutrition, just to name a few of my interests outside of teaching and tutoring.

I've helped many students of all ages dramatically improve their skills, confidence, grades, and more. It's also important to me to help support you/your child in finding ways to fit lessons to your particular talents, passions, interests, goals, and learning style so that you can experience continued growth and success in your endeavors!

Botany

Botany

I went through a rigorous 2-year Western Herbalism program that included training in botanical field study and identification, as well as how to use various plants in a holistic wellness setting with clients. Since then I have taught botany, as well as botanical diagramming, physiological properties, and illustration, to students. I've also had my own herbal tea line and worked with tea companies in formulating herbal tea blends, as well.
Drawing

Drawing

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2007 with a BA in Fine Arts and greatly sharpened my drawing techniques. I am experienced in drawing a wide variety of subject matter including portraits and figure studies of people, landscapes, still life, and abstract forms. While I find joy in drawing photo-realistic and/or concrete forms, I personally lean toward abstraction -- it is more my style. I also received a preliminary credential in K-12 art education, from SFSU. My teaching approach is a mix of Discipline-Based, Visual Culture, and a student-centered art education curriculum. My goal is to make art an approachable, enjoyable, and enriching subject for any and every student I am lucky enough to work with. I want all of my students to be confident that they can artistically express themselves to their full potential. I have many years of experience both teaching in classrooms and giving art lessons 1-1, as well as in small groups, to all ages including young children, teens, and adults. I've seen so many of my students dramatically improve their artistic abilities and find more confidence to express what they desire visually and creatively. I also create and sell my own art pieces to clients.
Nutrition

Nutrition

My 3-year certification program was heavily based on the fundamentals of nutrition and meal planning. During my clinical internship, in my own private practice, and in other work experiences, I have helped clients and students achieve their nutritional goals when it comes to meal prep, energy levels, and overall well-being. I've taught adult classes that have included nutrition, and cooking, as well. Lastly, I am constantly researching this subject as I find it interesting and useful for all ages - meal preparation and finding the right diet for each individual is something I am passionate about.
Painting

Painting

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2007 with a BA in Fine Arts where I developed my painting style and techniques. I am experienced in painting acrylic, oil, water-based oil, natural/orgainc dyes and paints, mixed media, and more. I have painted in a variety of styles from realistic to abstract. While I find joy in realism and/or concrete forms, I personally lean toward abstraction -- it is more my style. I also received a preliminary credential in K-12 art education, from SFSU.
