I am a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in California with a Master's degree in Civil Engineering and membership in the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. My academic background and professional engineering experience enable me to help students understand challenging math, science, and engineering concepts while connecting them to real-world applications.
I have over four years of tutoring and mentoring experience in both academic and professional settings. When I was a student in community college and university, I provided one-on-one, in-person tutoring to college students in mathematics, science, and engineering courses. I also volunteered at my community college's Homework Help Center and served as a grader for undergraduate engineering courses. In my current career, I have spent the past four years mentoring junior engineers, helping them develop technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and confidence in their work.
My experience working with students and early-career engineers has taught me successful learning goes beyond finding the correct answer. I focus on identifying where a student is struggling, breaking complex topics into manageable steps, and explaining concepts in multiple ways until they click. Whether we are reviewing foundational skills, preparing for an exam, or tackling advanced engineering problems, I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and develop effective problem-solving strategies that they can apply independently.
I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their individual learning style and pace. My goal is not only to help students solve problems but also to build a strong understanding of the underlying concepts and develop the confidence to tackle future challenges independently. I genuinely enjoy sharing the knowledge and learning strategies that helped me succeed, and I find it rewarding to help students overcome obstacles and achieve their academic goals.
