Master the Fundamentals of Painting & Drawing with a University Instructor

Hello! I am a professional artist and university instructor dedicated to helping students of all skill levels discover the joy of visual art and master technical skills.

I hold an MFA in Painting and Drawing from California State University, Fullerton, and a BFA from the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since 2018, I have served as a Beginning Painting and Drawing instructor at CSU Fullerton, where I have successfully guided hundreds of students through the foundational steps of visual expression.

Whether you are a beginner looking to learn the basics, a high school student preparing a portfolio, or an adult looking to refine your technique, I tailor my one-on-one lessons to your specific goals. In our drawing sessions, we will focus on observational realistic drawing—learning how to translate the 3D world onto a 2D surface. I provide step-by-step guidance on linear perspective, composition, and the effective execution of mediums like pencil, charcoal, and ink.

For painters, I offer deep-dive instruction in oil, acrylic, and or gouache. We will explore the mechanics of color theory, paint application, and the structural understanding required to render realistically.

My teaching method relies on patience, clear demonstrations, and constructive, encouraging critiques. I break down complex visual concepts into manageable, actionable steps so that you can see immediate improvement in your work. Let’s work together to bring your artistic vision to life!
