As an American Sign Language Interpreter, Ana M. obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Deaf Studies, has a certification in American Sign Language, and graduated with a Master of Science in Disability Services in Higher Education.

Ana is dedicated to the awareness and appreciation of culture. Ana works to bring awareness to not only the Hispanic community but to the d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing community amongst other underserved communities.

Ana published If You Could Hear My Hands, a book devoted to embracing culture. If You Could Hear My Hands is the story of a 5-year-old deaf girl named Victoria. In the beginning of the story, Victoria grows up in an environment where her foster family lacks knowledge of the deaf community and culture. Victoria is frustrated and challenged by the limited communication with her foster family and is unable to express herself. Victoria is about to begin school and is adopted by a deaf couple. Victoria’s new family is able to help her transition into the appropriate lifestyle. In her new environment, Victoria learns American Sign Language (ASL) and learns about deaf culture.

This book is only the first of many awareness books Ana intends to write about various underprivileged groups. Ana has many accomplishments with more to come. Featured in various bookstores across Los Angeles, the author is currently seeking to increase book sales and social visibility. Ana is not only an author, but an advocate for the Latina/x/o and d/Deaf and Hard of hearing communities.
