I thought about staying in school to get my teaching credential, but instead decided to pursue a career in engineering. Since graduating, I've worked as an engineer at the Central Coast Water Quality Control Board, and I'm currently working as an engineer at the Department of Water Resources.
I strive not only to teach math, but to spark a genuine interest and appreciation in math and science in my students. I like to think that I do a good job of making my lessons relatable and relevant to students. In addition to teaching a subject, I also try to answer the question "when am I ever going to use this?"
I know what the math your learning today is preparing you for in your future college career. I also find ways to show how math is relevant in your life and not just an abstract concept.
I'll do algebra, trig, or calculus, but graphing is where I draw the line.
