I have an Associate Degree in Journalism from Fresno City College and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Fresno State. During my education, I also worked as a writing tutor at Fresno City College for 4 years, where I was certified by the Association of Colleges for Tutoring and Learning Assistance, and the College Reading and Learning Association.
As a community college tutor, I worked with students of all ages and backgrounds, from high school students in dual enrollment to older students who worked for decades before continuing their education. Through this position and my own education, I have learned so much about various styles of writing and how to tutor for each style, as they differ in small but incredibly important ways. Perhaps more importantly, I have also learned how to tailor my tutoring to each student and figure out how I can best help them. However, I always do my best to welcome a student before moving into the material, where I make a plan for the session and pinpoint how to address the student’s needs.
I am most experienced in tutoring for writing generally and in different styles, such as MLA for English writing and Chicago for History writing. I am also able to help students with history courses. I look forward to working with you!
