Bio

My name is Karl P., and I have a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. I first began tutoring during my junior year of high school by helping students in Grades 1-8 with their homework. After that, I maintained three tutoring jobs working as a coding instructor at Startup Wonder teaching students grades 3-8 of up to 24 in a classroom, robotics instructor at Magikids Robotics teaching students Grades K-5 of up to 8 in a classroom, and as a coding instructor at theCoderSchool in Fremont...

My name is Karl P., and I have a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. I first began tutoring during my junior year of high school by helping students in Grades 1-8 with their homework. After that, I maintained three tutoring jobs working as a coding instructor at Startup Wonder teaching students grades 3-8 of up to 24 in a classroom, robotics instructor at Magikids Robotics teaching students Grades K-5 of up to 8 in a classroom, and as a coding instructor at theCoderSchool in Fremont teaching programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, and Scratch teaching students ages 6-17 of up to 6 in a class.

Usually, my approach whenever I teach would be to first check if the students having an understanding at the concept I plan to teach. If not, then I would teach it to them and check to see if they are understanding it by asking them questions occasionally. Then, I would give them homework whenever possible and sometimes give them a quiz to check to see if they retained what they learned in previous classes, and then check to see if they have any questions or doubts from previous classes. I want my students to benefit from my classes, and I always check to see if they are following what I am teaching them before moving on to the next topics.

Math was always one of my strong subjects in school since elementary school from just basic addition and subtraction to algebra, geometry, statistics, and calculus. Math has helped me develop an interest in computer science as well as understand chemistry and physics. Programming languages that I work with are Java, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL. I am also familiar with Spring and REST. I am also fluent in Spanish as my third language as I took four years of Spanish in secondary school and communicated in that language occasionally as a fast food employee back when I was a teenager.

Knowledgeable

Karl has the knowledge and experienced. But I am really lost in my class and I needed a little more patience and a guidance as to what I am doing. I thought that he would be better suited to someone with more experience. I'm not the perfect student either. I just found someone else that was a better fit.
