In terms of tutoring, I have done it for a long time for numerous subjects. I have tutored at the UC Davis Academic Assitance and Tutoring Center for 3+ years for Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Physics, and Biochemistry. During this time, I have worked with hundreds of different students in both group and individual settings. I have helped tutor numerous types of students, such as those who were intercollegiate athletes and those who were on academic suspension. I have also been a learning assistant for an Immunology class and have been doing neuroimmunology and analytical chemistry research for 3+ years. Extensive research of these topics have helped reinforce my understanding especially the small nuances.
In general, when it comes to my ideology for tutoring, I don't have a set protocol. I have found it most effective to ask the student about their strengths and weaknesses and what would help them learn. From there, I make a protocol, and I find it really easy to make analogies to help simplify complex concepts such as those found in Organic Chemistry and Physics.
