Majoring in physics, both a B.S. degree from SJSU and a master's degree from the University of Oregon, I have extensive experience in my subject area as well as high school mathematics up to AP Calculus BC and SAT math. In SJSU and University of Oregon, I had the privilege of becoming a teaching assistant for over two years, enabling me to gain valuable teaching experience in a group setting through challenging and working with college students. Additionally, having worked at C2education, a private tutoring company, for approximately a school year, I have experience with working with high school students as well in a smaller, more intimate setting.
Pedagogically speaking, my approach is always to listen to the student first to see if they have any initial questions, goals, or feelings coming into the subject to guarantee the best possible outcome. It should be both a fun and serious learning environment for the student where they feel comfortable asking questions. If needed, I can always provide additional learning materials to aid in a student's journey, whether it be worksheets or specifically targeted exercises for a certain area in the subject.
I hope to make a positive difference in any student who is making an active effort to improve.
