Hello, my name is Sahar S. I first started tutoring at the Fremont Public Library for young students. I then studied at Ohlone College for two years, majoring in Arabic. And during that time, I tutored for one year in biology and Chemistry. Shortly after, I transferred to UC Berkeley and continued my studies, extending beyond Modern Standard Arabic to include prose, poetry, the Quran, and the Hadith. I have earned a Bachelor's in Middle Eastern Studies with emphasis on Arabic. My tutoring methods usually involve explaining the problem or idea in general, so I don't give the answer right away. I try to keep the explanation brief, then ask them to see if they can figure it out. If they still struggle, then I will go step by step, explaining each step until they figure it out. If they are not fluent in English, then I would speak in their language if I can, like Dari/Farsi.
I have taught students ages six to eleven and ages seventeen to nineteen. Overall, I have tutored for about 2 years in a public classroom setting where students can choose their own tutor.
