I graduated from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a double major in Microbiology and Neuroscience, with several coursework in lower and upper division mathematics (GPA: 3.65). I also hold a Professional Certificate in Data Science at University of California, Berkeley (UCB). During my undergraduate years, I published several papers, including my senior thesis in 1) Bioinformatics of Viruses and in 2) Diabetes Long-term remission. I am currently a Research Scientist / Manager at a biotech company researching and developing drugs for biological diseases.
I was a teaching assistant at UCLA teaching undergraduate physics courses and labs. My approach to teaching is to teach students how to reason and think critically by guiding them through the problem step-by-step and by probing the student with follow-up questions and how it relates to their intuition. It is critical for students to first understand the problem and how it can broken down into simpler problems so that the answer can be derived in a more intuitive way. I also emphasize teaching the fundamentals that are necessary for solving many problems that exams prefer to test.
In addition to being a teaching assistant for undergraduate students (ages 18 - 22) at UCLA, I was also a tutor at one of Los Angeles's tutoring programs for a semester tutoring high school students. Half of my experience in teaching is in-person (classroom and one-on-one setting) and the other half is via online.
