Hi, I'm Gokul — a Statistics PhD with 6+ years of experience teaching probability, mathematical statistics, econometrics, actuarial Exam P, calculus, and GRE/GMAT Quant. I recently completed my PhD at UC Riverside, where I developed new statistical methodology (two first-author papers currently under journal review).
During my five years as a TA, I consistently received some of the highest ratings in my department. Students told me that what finally made the material “click” was my ability to explain concepts intuitively from multiple angles. Here are a few things past students have written about my teaching:
“The additional perspectives on problems were very useful for providing a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.”
“His discussions cleared up everything that was confusing in lecture.”
“One of the best TAs I’ve had. Scary smart.”
My teaching philosophy: true success in math and statistics comes from mastering the fundamentals, not memorizing shortcuts. When your foundation is strong, you can solve unfamiliar problems with confidence — including exam questions that look nothing like the textbook. Many students also struggle because earlier concepts—like functions, algebra, or integration—were never fully solidified. I help rebuild those foundations so you can move forward confidently.
My tutoring style: I ask targeted questions to diagnose gaps in understanding, guide you toward the solution, and fill in only what’s missing. This approach builds intuition, independence, and long-term skill.
Who I help:
• Undergrads in probability, mathematical statistics, econometrics, calculus, linear algebra
• High-school students in calculus and advanced math
• Students preparing for Actuarial Exam P, GRE Quant, or GMAT Quant
• Graduate students needing clarity on core statistical concepts
• Professionals using statistics or R for work
If you want clearer understanding, stronger fundamentals, and effective support in challenging math and statistics courses, I’d love to work with you!
