Hi, my name is Julia! I am currently a sophomore attending Santa Clara University and pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. I have a strong foundation in math, having followed an accelerated pathway during high school. I earned a 4 on the AP Calculus BC exam with a subscore of 5 on the AB portion and scored 750 on the SAT math section. In my senior year of high school I was recognized with a math award. This means I am confident in my abilities to tutor Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1&2, Precalculus, and Calculus.
My tutoring experience comes from online tutoring, tutoring friends, as well as working in an afterschool program. Through these years I have found a passion for supporting others and have learned to tutor across various learning styles and age groups.
My tutoring approach is simple and student focused. If a student has questions they need help with, I will set up a problem-solving based tutoring session. If they need to prepare for a test or review concepts I can create notes based off their course material and include practice to go over. I will always send the information covered in each tutoring session afterwards, sometimes including additional problems and a summary of topics which need the most focus.
I believe learning is enjoyable to everyone when it's taught in a way which makes sense, and I love helping students to reach that point.
