My educational background in computer science is extensive, and I have become proficient in a number of different languages via professional work experience as well as my time at Occidental College. Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Occidental College, and I have enrolled in relevant computer science coursework such as Data Structures and Algorithms and Computer Organization. Outside of Occidental College, I have interned at the Aspiring Scholar's Directed Research Program multiple times in order to gain professional work experience with the Python programming language. My proficiency in computer science has led me to a desire to teach and tutor others in the field of computer science.
I have had multiple previous tutoring and teaching experiences before and during my time at Occidental College. In high school, I was part of a peer-tutoring program that our school offered, and I would spend multiple hours helping fellow students understand concepts that they didn't fully get. Furthermore, while at Occidental College, I have also taken part in a peer-tutoring program for Computer Science. My overall experience with tutoring has mostly been with high school students as well as some college students, and my overall tutoring experience has been a full year.
My approach to tutoring has always been centered around asking questions and, more importantly, learning the fundamentals of a concept. In my opinion, it is impossible to properly teach someone a concept without first ensuring that they have a solid grasp of the fundamentals and basics of that concept. Furthermore, I feel like asking questions is the best way to learn and answering those questions is one of the best ways to teach someone a concept.
