Hi, I’m Joe Vargas. I’m a Math tutor and Executive Function coach with 25+ years of experience helping students finally “get” Math.

Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of students of all ages understand their material, from elementary school basics to college-level calculus. And while I won’t pretend every student loves Math at first, I’ve learned how to make it click for even the most reluctant learners.

Hi, I’m Joe Vargas. I’m a Math tutor and Executive Function coach with 25+ years of experience helping students finally “get” Math.

Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of students of all ages understand their material, from elementary school basics to college-level calculus. And while I won’t pretend every student loves Math at first, I’ve learned how to make it click for even the most reluctant learners.

- I work alongside my students. Whether it’s a test review or practice homework, I solve problems right there with them. My students are not just watching, they’re doing.
- I focus on real understanding, not memorization. If a student cannot explain a concept back to me, we keep working until they can.
- I keep things simple. No unnecessary jargon. We stick to clear examples and relatable situations to help concepts stick.

Great Tutor.

I arranged to have Joe tutor my Godson. After the lesson he (my Godson) called to say how awesome the lesson was and how excited he was to learn. We tried multiple ways to get him interested only to have them fail. Joe really is a Miracle Worker!! Thanks Joe!

Outstanding Tutor and Coach

Joe worked with our 9th-grader to help her prepare for a math final. Our daughter scored the highest grade ever on the math final after working with Joe. We felt he was extremely prepared for the session and made short work of all the issues our daughter found challenging. While Joe is an outstanding tutor, he is also an excellent coach. Joe helped motivate and build our daughter's confidence. This is no easy feat, given her tendency to be so shy. Joe gets an A+++ in our book!

He did knowledge checks throughout the lesson, asked a lot questions to make sure my daughter was comfortable with the material before moving on. She asked to do more sessions with Joe. She has tried other tutors on Wyzant, but did not find them helpful. She said the other tutors are good at math, but didn’t explain well to where she could understand concepts. Joe is a keeper! Update daughter looks forward to her sessions with Joe. She said he teaches in a way that makes it easier to understand and she doesn’t dread going to math class. ***update 5/15 My daughter has been taking with Joe since the beginning of March. She feels more confident taking quizzes and tests. Her last few quizzes and test have been 90% - 95%, before Joe, she was scoring 65% - 72%.

Before my first lesson with him I was feeling very lost and defeated. After my the lesson my confidence was back and I understood the material. After about a week of tutoring with him I have gotten a 100% on 2 quizzes and 1 test!
