Hi! I'm Pin! I'm Taiwanese, from the Republic of China. I have over more than six years of experience teaching Mandarin at the Folsom Chinese School and in-home tutoring in surrounding communities. I taught the Mandarin Enrichment classes at the Loomis Basin Charter School started 2012 and Oak Hills Elementary School started 2014. I am also teaching at the Sacramento Mandarin School. I work with children aged 4 and older as well as adults. I can assist with improving fluency in Mandarin speaking from beginning to more advanced levels. Various methods and strategies are used, such as flash cards, children’s songs, children's rhymes, games, and PowerPoint presentations. Instruction is tailored to everyone's needs.

After a few lessons, Yen Pin had a good assessment of my Mandarin level and has been able to construct challenging lessons that leverage what I know and add a manageable mix of new words and concepts each time. She has also helped me greatly with pronunciation, identifying patterns where I tend to make tone errors so I can be conscious and correct them.
Our 4 year old can be challenging to engage, but she's been great at keeping her involved and adjusting subject matter to keep her attention. Lots of interesting props and methods utilized.
My 4 year old son had 5 lessons with Yen Pin now and he's made amazing progress with his Pinyin. This was one of my requirements because I know Pinyin is the foundation of learning Mandarin Chinese even though he already speaks fairly fluent Chinese...Yen Pin is very patient with young child and she knows very well of their attention spam. She uses all kinds of interactive "games" and self-developed graphical teaching aids to make a 4 year-old actual sitting in a lesson for a hour and learn a lot with fun; she even teach him Chinese culture topics such as the Moon festival which I was so happy that she even thought about it! She is just an excellent teacher! Thank you Yen Pin!
At first we were unsure if our 3 1/2 year old would be too young to learn mandarin. however, we were put quickly and reassuringly at ease by Yen who bonded with our son and made learning fun immediately. we would hear Yen and our son laughing and involved in an excellent instructional session, which he continues to look forward to. she has been a breath of fresh air! we are delighted.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
With younger students, I implement various methods and strategies for right brain learning. We begin with flash cards, children’s song, games, poems, and images recognition on PowerPoint slides. I can create a curriculum, tailored for your child’s language ability and background to accelerate their progress. I am also familiar with several highly reputable Mandarin textbook series for teaching Mandarin.
For adult learners, depending on your goals we can begin with conversational skills , business related or travel. I can also augment a home study program you are using (such as Rosetta Stone).
