Working with K-12th grade students, teaching curriculum in a multitude of subjects including, literacy (phonics), story times, reading, writing, math, sports, art, science, theatre and more.

I began by volunteering for a child & adult Literacy classes and was amazed by how I could help boost confidence, inspire and make learning fun and engaging! I then worked for the City of Chula Vista as a Site Coordinator for a Literacy and Enrichment program. Over the course of 10 years, we served hundreds of children with an array of personalities, learning styles, strengths/weaknesses with the approach of always customizing for the child’s particular needs. From there, I developed curriculum for specialty group classes and started private tutoring where I could focus on families and one-on-one sessions for children who progressed well with that focused attention.

Furthermore, I have taken several college courses in child Development, including writing curriculum for age and developmental appropriateness. Just a few of my specialty certification programs that I have completed and incorporate into my teaching styles include: “Brain Gym” (helps coordinate the right/left brain hemispheres, improves, reading, coordination, educational kinesiology), “Harnessing the Power of Play” with Dr. Bill Michaelis, DDADA: How to Effectively Lead Group Activities” and “Advanced Cooperative Games” both with Educational Services Coordinator, Keith Quigley, “Professional Development Training: best serving students and parents” and “Healthy Lifestyles and Foundations” both with youth program specialist Audra White, “Verbal Judo Training” Dr. George Thomson and “Behavior Management” (emphasis on positive reinforcement and behavior modeling) Rick Morris. Finally, I am also certified in child CPR Ist AID/AED, Yoga (adults and youth) and Group Fitness.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have volunteered and worked with students k-6th grade for over 10 years. I first volunteered for a program called Leap into Literacy through the Chula Vista Public Library. Through this program I did the following: *worked with student in small groups catering to their specific needs *assisted them in reading, phonemic awareness, comprehension, retention *created and implemented fun games that reinforced concepts we learned *incorporated lesson plans tailored to their progress *communicated with their parents and shared feedback I then worked for the City of Chula Vista under Educational Service's After School Enrichment Program called STRETCH. I was a Youth Teacher for two years and taught a group of 25 3rd-4th graders. I was then promoted to the Site Coordinator position, which I held for 5 years (unfortunately due to budget cuts in the city we were all laid off last year). Through this program I did the following: *oversaw our program of 5 staff and 105 students, k-6th grade *maintained a positive, safe environment for students at all times *created new and dynamic curriculum to fit the needs of our students *evaluated the progress of our students and created a game plan to set them up for success *worked with students who were diagnosed with ADD, ADHD and Medium to High Functioning Autism *created and lead lessons in math, reading, phonics, creative writing, art, art history, sports, characters through culture and much more *supported and encourage all students to challenge themselves to become better *maintained a rapport with parents and teachers to best cultivate the children's needs I truly enjoyed working with all of my students throughout the years; especially the ones that needed a little extra guidance. It is because of those students I became a tutor. It is also important to me to incorporate the support of my student's teachers and parents to help them achieve their goals and acquire tools to continue

Extraordinary tutor!

I have been homeschooling my 5th grader since kindergarten, yet this year has been more difficult for both of us. So we wanted to try tutoring to bring a new energy and dynamic to my son's home school learning routine. (Actually it was a cry for help on my end). From the first conversation we had with Tiffany, I knew she was an amazing tutor. And I was right, she has a vast knowledge and expertise beyond what her profile indicates. She brought back the JOY of learning, my 10 year son absolutely loves working with her. Prior to hiring Tiffany, my son was reluctant to complete his writing assignments because they were boring for him and my assistance was not welcomed as it used to be when he was younger (welcome to the 'tween' years). We have witnessed a complete turn around with our son since working with Tiffany (in only 3 weeks), he now has a passion for doing his lessons (especially his writing lessons) because of her unique skills and experience of engaging him in a way that makes him light up! We also noticed our son's confidence level rise and our latest session with her brought tears of joy and pride to my eyes as our son gained a new interest in his school work. Not only does Tiffany go above and beyond when it comes to teaching my son and inspiring him to do his best, but she connects with him at a level where he has total trust in her and a sense of comfort and joy when she comes over. I don't know how I ever survived without Tiffany, I am so grateful to have her as our tutor. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for support with their child's education, creativity, and/or increasing confidence. Tiffany is the diamond in the hay stack of tutors.

Amazing evolution!

Tiffany has been tutoring my son and daughter every week for 6 months. She is always evolving her lessons to meet their specific learning styles. She has lots of "tricks up her sleeve" to help them learn and she really keeps things interesting and fun for them while getting the work done. My daughter has more self confidence and less task anxiety since working with Tiffany. Tiffany is able to chunk up the work and teach my daughter less stressful ways of attacking her projects. With my son Tiffany incorporates physical and spatial learning strategies including Brain Gym, to help him on many levels. I am so very grateful to have found a tutor who fits our family's needs so well. This has been an amazing experience.
