Teaching is more than my profession, it is my purpose. Over the course of 12 years in California education, I have worked as a middle school classroom teacher, instructional coach, and school leader, developing a deep and well-rounded understanding of how students learn and what they need to thrive. I hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with English Language Authorization, and I am currently a doctoral candidate researching inclusive educational practices for students with autism and other learning differences. My academic work and classroom experience are not separate pursuits but they inform each other in everything I do.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with students across elementary and middle school grades in both classroom and one-on-one settings. I have a particular passion for ELA, literacy development, and supporting English Language Learners, as well as students who learn differently than traditional school structures tend to accommodate. My background includes specialized knowledge of special education principles, inclusive instructional practices, and the implementation of IEP accommodations ensuring that every student I work with receives the individualized support they are entitled to and deserve. As a homeschooling parent myself, I also bring a personal and practical understanding of what independent learners and their families experience. From the challenges, the flexibility, and the extraordinary potential of student-centered education.
My approach draws from evidence-based frameworks, including Universal Design for Learning, to ensure that every session is tailored to how each student genuinely learns best. I believe that struggling students are not failing, they simply haven't yet found their way in. My goal is to provide the structure, encouragement, and individualized strategies that build competence, confidence and a joy of learning. Every learner has a breakthrough waiting. I would be honored to help find it.
