I'll give you professional engineering feedback on reliability and manufacturability of your design as well as teach you how to model in a way that's optimized for editing dimensions so your models won't break. I'll teach you key principles in setting up your sketches, relations, mates and features based on the design requirements and function of your part so it will be easy to understand and update as you iterate through prototypes. I'll teach you the reasons why using higher modeling standards can drastically improve your productivity, speed, and design capabilities. Solidworks is a powerful tool when you take advantage of it's potential! I will evaluate your exact needs and customize lessons to best help you grow.

I've been using Solidworks for 8 years, taken advanced Solidworks classes through Go Engineer, and plan to get certified in the future. I can help with most Solidworks questions, especially on improving your design skills, however if you are specifically looking for help with CAM software, or simulations, I will not be as helpful for those at this time.

I absolutely love robotics, problem solving and innovation. It's my passion and goal to become the best engineer I can. I've learned an incredible amount over the past 12 years of teaching, coaching, and mentoring robotics teams, working as a mechanical engineer, and doing plenty of robotics projects on the side. I've studied robotics systems and teams as they fail and succeed for many years, and constantly evaluate what works and what does not as it relates to mechanics, electronics, programming, skill assessment, reliable design, verification testing, scope creep, organization, time management, documentation, teamwork, and most importantly, communication.

I've been using Excel since 2010, as a tool for engineering, business, and personal finance calculations and graphs. I have used it in many college classes, at my engine

Robotics

I've been designing and building robots since 2009! I competed in world Championships all 4 years as a high school student in FIRST (FRC) and 2 years Vex Robotics. After high school I studied Mechanical Engineering at SDSU, and spent 7 years at a contract Engineering Company designing robots for medical, life sciences, automated production, kiosks, pharmacy, and more. I have been teaching robotics classes and coaching robotics teams since 2012 including FRC, FTC, FLL, Vex, Mechatronics, and Combat Bots. While working with many different robotics teams and students over the past 14 years, I studied the key factors that lead to project success or failure, and have compiled a good list of Do's and Don'ts. My main focus has been root cause problem solving, reliability and validation, mechanical design, project management, team leadership / communication, rapid prototyping, product development, design stabilization for production, and design for manufacturability (DFM). I love robotics, product development and business! I'd be happy to see how I can help you reach your goals!

I've been using Solidworks for 8 years, between my mechanical engineering job, my hobbies, and my time mentoring FRIST Robotics teams, I've made hundreds of models, countless prototypes, and helped to create over 90 robots. I've taken advanced Solidworks classes through Go Engineer, and enjoyed optimizing my modeling process over the years. I'd be thrilled to help you master your skills in modeling, design, and engineering as well!

Articulate, friendly and knowledgable

Dusty was great, taught me a lot in a short time. Understood what I needed,. Will be requesting more training from him definitely. Managed to cover both the basics and quite complex stuff easily, and showed me many very useful tricks and techniques, many that I would not have discovered through trial and error alone. Highly recommended.

Great teacher, very patient!

Dusty was able to fit me in on a very short notice. He helped me longer than expected and was very kind. He was super patient with me when I did not understand something. I learned so much with him that I had not learned in my class. Definitely recommend!!

Amazing tutor

Was extremely generous and willing to work 5 hours nonstop with me to polish a presentation for a final SolidWorks project. Not only did he help me get the project done in SW but he also helped me finish the Power Point presentation for the project and helped me prepare for what to say for the presentation. 11/10 tutor that went above and beyond for me :)

Amazing tutor

Super friendly and helpful! Was extremely patient and professional with me and helped me get what would’ve taken several days worth of work done in just a few hours. Would definitely recommend.

Super helpful!

Dusty was able to go through my code with me and figure out ways we could locate the problem and test it, and then figure out a solution. We were able to come up with several strategies for how to modify a jacobian for pick and place with a robot arm, and he had great ideas for simplifying the machine vision process. Super helpful, very creative solutions, great suggestions on simplifying the problem!
