As someone who has mentored children and adults alike in concepts ranging from math to chemistry to pathology, I am excellent at explaining concepts in both layman's terms and in-detail. During my time studying for my Biochemistry degree at UCSD, I was an Undergraduate Assistant helping college students with Organic Chemistry lab procedures, concepts, and safety. I have also tutored elementary level math for the tutoring company Mathnasium. I have tutored in college academic labs, classrooms, tutoring facilities, and homes (I've tutored family friends as a volunteer). I have tutored people from 5 to 23 years of age for a total of about 1-2 years. I primarily focus on topics the student is struggling with the most. If a student does not have the background knowledge necessary to understand a complex topic, I will backtrack and re-explain the concepts required to digest the new information. I teach so that my students don't just memorize the information, but can understand and apply it. I am very patient, as most topics are unintuitive at first glance and take time to learn. I enjoy using my Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry to help students achieve their fullest potential, as knowledge is only the gateway to true understanding.
