My name is Charisse, and I earned my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of California, Riverside, where I graduated with a 3.8 GPA and was recognized six times on the Dean’s Honors List and once on the Chancellor’s List. My coursework included biology, chemistry, psychology, statistics, and advanced science classes that required strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Because of this background, I primarily tutor biology, general science, math, and reading or writing support. I am also licensed in phlebotomy and certified in dental assisting, which reflects my hands-on experience in healthcare and strengthens my understanding of applied science. This summer, I will be starting dental school to pursue a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree, continuing my academic path in the sciences.
For the past six months, I have worked one-on-one with elementary through high school students in reading, writing, math, and science. All of my tutoring has been individualized, which allows me to adjust my teaching style to each student’s needs and pace. In addition to tutoring, I work as an ABA Technician, where I support children with special needs using structured, step-by-step instruction and positive reinforcement strategies. This experience has strongly influenced how I teach. I break down difficult material into manageable parts, check for understanding frequently, and focus on building confidence alongside academic skills. I value patience, consistency, and clear communication, and I aim to help students not only improve their grades but also feel more capable and independent in their learning.
