My name is Mason G., and I am a recent high school graduate preparing to begin college, with a strong academic background and a focus on helping students build both understanding and confidence. Throughout high school, I consistently supported classmates and younger students in subjects such as math, English, and general study strategies. These experiences allowed me to develop the ability to break down complex concepts into simple, digestible steps, which is a key part of my tutoring approach.

Over the past few years, I have worked with students in one-on-one and small group settings, primarily at the elementary and middle school levels. My teaching style is highly adaptive—I focus on identifying how each student learns best and tailoring my explanations to match their needs. Rather than just helping students complete assignments, I emphasize understanding the “why” behind the material, so they can apply what they learn independently. I also incorporate structure, goal-setting, and repetition techniques to help students retain information and improve over time.

In addition to subject-specific support, I specialize in building strong academic habits, including organization, time management, and test preparation skills. I create a supportive but focused environment where students feel comfortable asking questions while also being challenged to grow. My goal is to not only improve grades in the short term, but to help students develop long-term confidence and independence in their learning.

Approved Subjects

Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I specialize in teaching beginners how to solve the Rubik’s Cube using clear, step-by-step methods that are easy to understand and remember. I focus on breaking the process down into simple patterns so students can solve the cube confidently, often within just one or two sessions. My approach is patient, engaging, and especially effective for kids, helping build problem-solving skills and confidence along the way. I also help students improve their speed and efficiency once they’ve learned the basics.
Reading

Reading

I am a recent high school graduate preparing to begin college, with a strong background in reading, writing, and comprehension skills. Throughout my academic experience, I have consistently worked with peers and younger students to improve their reading fluency, understanding, and confidence. I have experience helping elementary-level students with phonics, vocabulary development, and comprehension strategies, focusing on building strong foundational skills. My approach to tutoring reading is structured but engaging. I focus on phonics and decoding for early readers, while also teaching comprehension strategies such as identifying main ideas, making inferences, and summarizing. I incorporate interactive techniques to keep students engaged and adapt my teaching style to match each student’s learning pace and needs. In addition to improving reading skills, I emphasize building confidence and creating a positive learning environment. I believe that when students feel supported and capable, they are more willing to take on challenges and improve. My goal is not only to help students perform better academically, but also to help them become stronger, more independent readers over time.
