I am currently working toward becoming a licensed teacher. I volunteer as a classroom aide two hours per week. I support students with coursework, provide small-group assistance, and observe effective instructional strategies.
I also have a strong academic and industry background in mathematics and engineering. I earned a Mathematics major at Washington University in St. Louis, a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. I worked in industry, including Google as a software engineer. My background gives me deep familiarity with the subject and lets me really explain the ins and outs of something. Also I know what it takes to do well in school and learn how to adapt those skills for a successful career.
I am deeply committed to student success. During college, I created and led a mentoring program to support high school students prepare for college as first-generation college students. Through this program, I provided one-on-one guidance on academic planning, study strategies, and application preparation, building relationships with students over the course of years. This experience taught me the importance of supporting students. Sometimes a little extra help can go a long way. With tutoring, I want to create a supportive environment for students so they feel like they have everything they need when they leave session.
