Hello! My name is Elsie and I'm a college student who loves school and enjoys helping other students learn to love it too!
I've worked 1 year as a Teacher assistant, another as a substitute, and most recently I've had the pleasure of being a 5th grade classroom teacher. Additionally, I've tutored elementary students ranging from 1st to 5th grade both at home and at a tutor center. I quickly realized tutoring was my favorite form of teaching since it gave me the one-on-one time with students necessary to provide thorough and personalized instructions.
Math is my favorite subject to study and to teach, but I've also taught English (grammar, phonics, spelling, vocabulary and reading), and Science. Some of my teaching methods include: visuals, story examples, reward plans, and learning games! I've always found that getting to know the child's interests and tailoring my teaching methods to reflect them is the most effective way to keep their attention and help them memorize concepts. (For example, one of my students was a huge reptile enthusiast, so all my visuals, examples and games featured lizards, snakes and frogs which he loved to name)
