I've worked as a teacher at Heald College, Pleasant Hill/Concord Campus, CA for four years 1995-1999 teaching various subjects. I've been a high school recruiter for The Fashion Institute Design and Merchandising, LA Campus 1999-2001, teaching various classes for FIDM in the CA San Bernadino County School District.
I've worked with all ages and working with adults continues to be a tremendous experience. I appreciate the multicultural and the diversity that Northern CA has to offer and would relish the opportunity to do what I've done for years, work with a diverse population, enhancing their educational and vocational skills.
From my training prior to college, college and Seminary has afforded me instruction in English and Greek. The emphasis from speech courses, homiletics and speaking opportunities on and off campus, have provided a unique format to utilize my public speaking skills. My travels to Australia, S. Korea, Turkey, Canada and Thailand have provided me the challenges to communicate with other cultures and ethnicities whose primary language was non-English speaking.
All interested students and individuals are welcome to contact me for further inquiry and discussion pertaining to: level of interest, subject inquiry and the objective(s) of the education they are seeking. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My BA Degree is in Theology and Religion and my seminary training was in pastoral ministry. I've taken courses in world religions, Christianity, Church history, and comparative religions.
I've studied religion in Turkey which is 98% Muslim; in S. Korea (which is one of the most diverse countries in the world, with 23% Buddhist, 19% Protestant, and 7 % Catholic) and I've studied religions in Thailand 94% Buddhist, 4.6% muslim an 0.7% Christian). I've personally traveled to these countries to gain fluency with their religious beliefs.
My travels have also taken me to Australia and teach in a country that's 25% Catholic and 17% Anglican. My respect for various religions and religious practices has been expanded and I have a deep appreciation for diverse religious practices.
