Hi, I’m Mariah, an experienced educator who loves helping students feel confident in their reading and writing. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English, which I earned with honors, and a Master’s in Education, and I bring deep knowledge of and passion for Language Arts and Literature to every session. I’ve taught students at every level, from elementary school through college, and my experience includes one-on-one instruction and individualized academic support that strengthens both skills and confidence.
My areas of expertise include elementary reading support, AP Language and Literature writing, college entrance essays, scholarship essays, and college-level tutoring. I tailor my approach to each student’s goals, strengths, and areas for growth. I believe effective teaching means meeting students where they are, breaking down challenging concepts, and offering practical strategies they can use on their own. Rather than simply handing over answers, I encourage critical thinking and guide students through the learning process.
My style is kind, patient, and fun, with high expectations and encouragement for students to challenge themselves. I enjoy working with learners who are eager, willing to try, and open to learning from their mistakes. My sessions are a supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and celebrating their progress. Whether we’re building foundational reading skills or refining an important college application essay, my goal is to help every student become a stronger, more confident, and independent learner
