Hello New Student,
My name is John M. and I received my B.S. in Mathematics from Stanford. I am also currently pursuing a Master's in Mathematics at San Francisco State University. I am friendly and supportive but also rigorous. I can provide help in all High School math as well as College Calculus. My approach is to determine exactly where you are struggling with grasping a new concept, explain the concept simply and concisely, and then create exercises on the spot for you to test your understanding. I also always think back to how I learned the concept myself when I tutor. I find that this helps facilitate learning.
I have taught a Calculus lab at SFSU as a Graduate Teaching Associate and have several years experience as a private tutor of math for elementary school, middle school, high school and college students. In the past, I have posted flyers, but now I am using Wyzant because I prefer to tutor online since I live on the coast a bit far away from urban centers and also because it's a great way to connect with new students like you.
Please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you may have or to schedule a lesson. Just so you know, I require 8 hours advance notice for a cancellation.
I look forward to meeting you and getting you started on your learning journey!
Thanks,
John M.
