Hi! I would love to be your child’s elementary instructor. My lessons are creative and engaging and everything I teach is unique to your child’s needs/interests. My specialty is teaching reading; I’ve been teaching reading in a classroom or in some capacity since 2002 and was trained by an elementary reading specialist. I use a three-tiered system with semantic (meaning-based cues), syntactic (structure-based cues) and graphophonic (phonics cues) cues to teach all types of learners. I earned my teaching credential at San Diego State and taught at a private Christian elementary school before having children. I am a Christian and am willing to use Christianity in my teaching if that appeals to you, but I will refrain if that’s not of interest to you. I love to travel and am interested in other cultures which is why I chose for my boys to learn Mandarin and Spanish fluently at school. I speak some Spanish, but use English in my instruction. I also teach other subjects and am passionate about teaching all elementary subjects including handwriting and writing, math, science, and history.
