My name is Jayna Lizama, and I have over 5 years of education experience dedicating my practice to fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment for K-12 and college students. I hold a substitute teaching permit from the San Diego County Office of Education and have a strong background in offering support through a range of subjects, which has enabled me as a resource for students.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of California, Riverside, and a Community Development Master's degree from the University of California, Davis, where I worked as a Teaching Assistant. During this position, I have facilitated discussions and workshops that either spans the scope of present lecture material or focuses intensively on a particular skillset. I have familiarity with environmental science cirricula as well as community based participatory research that integrates literature and lived experiences. With an interdisciplinary approach, I continue to learn alongside students in my practice by offering and welcoming a variety of ways to deepen our connection-making tools and critical thinking.

Additionally, as a freelance academic tutor, I have worked with students across different ages and lifepaths, which has allowed me to both customize and maintain an oppenness to the ways that my teaching strategies can meet individual and collective student needs. I appreciate feedback and do my best to create an atmosphere that encourages questions and curiosity. I am continuosly inspired by other students and I am committed to encouraging respect and accessibility in all learning spaces.
