The conversations we have during our sessions are designed to model the kinds of questions they need to ask about the texts they read and the writing they produce. I’ve used this exact approach with countless students as a tutor and teacher for over five years both at UC San Diego in the Analytical Writing Program and at San Diego State University in the Rhetoric and Writing Studies department.
I’m a UC San Diego graduate with a degree in Creative Writing and Literature and I’m currently finishing my third and final year of my Master’s at San Diego State University (also in Creative Writing). I’ve dedicated my entire academic career to understanding all forms of literature, from fiction to argumentative to various forms of nonfiction, and responding to them in a cogent, productive way. I’ve learned how write essays that conform to academic standards while using these standards and my mastery of the English language to develop a meaningful, comprehensive contributing to any conversation that I enter.
Not only do I have multiple years of experience both as a tutor and teacher, but I have been commended for my efforts multiple times by the professors, with whom I worked closely, and my supervisors, who consistently praised my dedicated to my students and the mastery with which I met students where they are in their academic journey. I take pride in tailoring my teaching approach to each student, always prioritizing their understanding of the material and ability to apply it on their own above anything else on the agenda. Coupled with my passion for helping students is my expertise. I’ve studied creative writing and, by extension, all types of literature as well as how to respond to it. The bottom line is that I love working with students to make their need for my help obsolete even if it is a necessarily long process.
