Ear Training

Ear Training

In my teaching, part of the core subject material involves the teaching of intervals in music. In my band classes, I use drones and piano to teach the quality of a chord (major vs. minor). My students are also assessed on the difference between half and whole steps. We also incorporate matching pitch with voice to internalize the now before applying to the instrument.
Sight Singing

Sight Singing

My students use solfege syllables when they learn their scales. This helps students to internalize the intervallic relationship between notes as well as how they relate to home key. My students are assessed on their ability to identify the key, and to identify accurately the notes in their exercises and music. My tutoring will incorporate the same concepts and skills.
Trombone

Trombone

Trombone being my main instrument, I have been playing this instrument for over 15 years. I have also studied with my teacher who is a current member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. My experience also includes jazz, concert, sacred, and pop settings and even performing for NFL football games, primetime television, and recording in Capitol Records in Hollywood.
Trumpet

Trumpet

I have been a brass musician for over 15 years - trumpet being my first instrument! Though I specialize low brass I have been teaching all brass musicians for over a decade in concert, jazz, elementary, marching band and in private lessons. My trumpet students have gone on the be music performance majors and pass auditions for multiple drum and bugle corps.
