My name is Sinjin, and I specialize in Study Skills, Communication, English, Film, and Adobe Creative Suite tutoring. I hold a degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Film and Electronic Media, and I’ve spent more than a decade helping students and professionals build confidence and reach their goals.

From 2012–2020, I worked as a professional tutor and media coach at Long Beach City College, where I guided students through scholarship applications, academic writing, and effective study strategies. I believe in creating clear, personalized objectives so every session feels focused, actionable, and empowering.

Alongside teaching, I built a career in video production—working in Los Angeles and New York City as a freelance videographer, editor, and photographer. I’ve produced everything from photo assets and short documentaries to commercials, music videos, and social reels, with my work contributing to 50M+ views on TikTok and Instagram. This hands-on industry experience allows me to mentor students in film, photography, and digital media with real-world insight.

My passion for working with individuals with disabilities started when I was a Special Olympics swim coach in 2011. This led me to begin volunteering with the Disabled Students Program at my college, assisting with taking notes for my peers, which eventually landed me a job in the disability accommodations office. The specialized program where I ultimately started my career granted me many experiences working with individuals with ASD & ADHD. I developed a strong understanding of approaching the unique challenges when tutoring in the office or assisting the client in their classroom.

During my time at Long Beach City College, I had the opportunity to coach students on how to make the most of their study time in the office. We would review their school portals and develop effective strategies to tackle their assignments. This involved taking into account the depth of the project, the due date, and the instructor's expectations and grading scale. While working at the disabilities accommodation office at Long Beach City College, I gained exposure to working with and assisting individuals with ADHD. I later advanced my knowledge in this category of tutoring by working at a day program where I got one on one experience assisting individuals with ADHD in our office and in their classroom.

During my time in college, I worked as an in-class assistant, notetaker, and front desk assistant at the disability accommodations office on campus. After graduation, I became an educational coach and tutor in a post-secondary program designed to help individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder through the Harbor Regional Center/Disabilities Programs and Services. In this program, I had the opportunity to work alongside individuals on the spectrum as they, applied for scholarships, worked on group projects, coordinated art shows, and competed in regional film competitions. This experience has been very valuable to me, as it opened my eyes to each student's unique and fulfilling education experiences. Over the course of 10+ years, I have had the opportunity to work one-on-one with individuals with autism through these specialized programs.

During my major in Communication Studies and my career as an in-class aide and educational coach in college, I took several college-level English courses and worked alongside English professors as an in-class aide for various Reading and English courses. This experience allowed me to assist multiple students in different courses and better understand how to approach essays and reading assignments with topic-specific prompts.

I pursued a major in Communication Studies and Film & Electronic Media during college. This allowed me to hone my essay writing skills and effectively analyze films through the lens of the given essay prompt. I found this skill particularly useful, as movies can be interpreted in various ways depending on the topic being explored in the course. After graduating, I worked in a program where I coached students majoring in Film and Digital Media Arts, further refining my knowledge of film critique by reading academic essays about a wide range of films and genres. During this period, I also had the opportunity to work on short narrative films and documentaries, which allowed me to gain experience in script writing, scene blocking, sound editing, and motion graphics.

I have been passionate about photography since high school. I used to develop photos in a dark room. Since then, I have taken digital photography courses at the college level, interned for three prominent photographers in Los Angeles, and worked on professional photo shoots and ad campaigns. I am constantly learning and keeping up with the evolving world of digital media and mirrorless cameras.

While in college, I majored in Communication Studies, emphasizing rhetoric and public speaking. Throughout my career, I have led monthly and annual celebrations and award ceremonies at Long Beach City College, which required public speaking and event preparation. I have been working with clients in the film and photography production industry since 2014. I have taken courses in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, and actively use this software to create high-quality videos and still images for popular creators and brands. Through internships with high-level fashion photographers and working with prominent directors in the beauty and retail space, I have gained a deep understanding of the entire project development process, from inception to final draft. I find every step of the process fascinating.

Incredible Tutor

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get my son to sit and listen to someone for an hour, but Sinjin was incredibly patient and engaging. He completely followed my son's interests.
