I have always had a dual career path as a bilingual creative professional and educator. I have been teaching Photoshop and English to non-native speakers as the teacher of record at Otis College of Art and Design since 2005. I started tutoring in college where I tutored Spanish, French, Italian and Anthropology. Aside from my freelance digital media business and college teaching, I have been tutoring in Spanish, helping students retrain for new careers. The subjects I tutor are MS Office, Photoshop, Premiere and Final Cut Pro.

I love tutoring because it is one on one teaching. Great gains are the result of focused attention on specific goals and customized plans that allow for flexibility and efficiency. I take a genuine interest in my students and love to see them succeed.

MAT from USC in TESOL. 3.97 GPA.

I have a BA from UCLA in Spanish Language and Literature. I lived in Spain, Mexico and Honduras and use Spanish consistently in my daily life.

I have 30 years experience as a creative professional in the Toy Industry. I worked at Mattel for 20 years and Lakeshore Learning Materials for nearly 12 years in full-time staff positions. Now I freelance for the following toy companies: Mattel, inc., Moose Toys, Spinmaster Toys, Funrise Toys, Alpha Toys, and Charisma Brands.

I love to teach and I love to guide people to meet their goals and discover wonderful surprises about their own unique talents along the way! I firmly believe in celebrating and activating prior knowledge to facilitate high-level learning.

I teach academic writing as part of the developmental English program at Otis College of Art and Design for the liberal arts and sciences department. In this course, I prepare students for success in all areas of academic writing used in the college: reading responses, reflections, narrative and argumentative essays as well as critique and debate. Critical thinking skills are what I stress in my classes as well as solid college-level research skills to help students bridge from high school, college and on to graduate school. Mechanics such as grammar and syntax are covered as well as thematic writing, claims of fact, policy and a variety of rhetorical devices to prepare students for success in future coursework.
