My name is Mr. B., and I’m a passionate educator with over 15 years of teaching experience in social studies, Spanish, religion, and music. I hold a Preliminary Credential in Secondary Social Studies in the state of California and have spent more than a decade working with middle and high school students. My primary areas of expertise are U.S. History, World History, Civics, and Spanish—ranging from Spanish I through AP Spanish Language and Culture. I’ve helped many students develop not only their academic skills, but also their confidence and independence, with an 85% AP Spanish pass rate under my instruction.
My tutoring approach is grounded in three key values. First, I take time to build strong relationships with my students. I believe that getting to know each student as a person allows me to figure out what methods work best for them—because no two learners are exactly alike. Second, I listen closely to students and their families to understand their needs, goals, and concerns. Whether we’re working toward a better grade, preparing for a major exam, or simply trying to stay organized, I want to align our sessions with what matters most to you. Third, I use a gradual release of responsibility model. That means I provide clear modeling and guided support at first, then slowly hand more responsibility over to the student as they grow in their reading, writing, and organizational skills. This builds lasting confidence and independence.
