The Art Institute of Sacramento (Media Arts and Animation)
One of my greatest memories as a child was running late to school every morning, because I had to finish watching my favorite cartoon, Super Campiones, a cartoon about soccer that aired on a Spanish channel. I grew up playing a lot of soccer and Super Campiones became, not only an inspiration as a soccer player, but also inspired me to become an artist; to create and tell my own compelling stories.
As an animator I am able to express the depths of my visual imagination, while telling inspiring stories. I am able to bring to life anything my imagination desires, even if it doesn’t exist in the real world. Being an animator allows me to create worlds where anything is possible.
That being said most of my work reflects my life style; it’s actuated by experiences. I originate art from experiences like: playing professional soccer and traveling to snowboarding and skateboarding. Comic books, films, fashion and especially music and nature also help fuel my artwork. I find Art in everything I do and try and have a sketchbook and a camera everywhere I go.
Now the recipient of a BS degree in Media Arts and Animation, my goal is to, bring both my love for art and soccer to make a unique 2-D soccer cartoon. My son loves Edric. He is very patient and organized tutor. Very easy to reach by email or text. We highly recommend him.
Edric has introduced my sons (11 and 15) to fundamentals of drawing, such as basic shapes, body proportions, and perspective. They are interested in cartoons, so he showed them examples and encouraged them to look for the "line of action." I was impressed with the materials he provided, both supplies and exercises. It's a lot for the boys to process, and I hope they are inspired by his talent. Edric is upfront that they will need to practice these skills if they want to truly learn. He has worked well accommodating schedules and our interactions are always pleasant. I'm looking forward to more lessons before summer is over!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received my B.S. in Media arts and Animation from the Art Institute of Sacramento. I currently freelance as a traditional artist, using graphite, pastels and paint. I am also planning on opening my own art studio in the future. Learning and improving my art is something I try and do on a daily bases, and teaching helps you learn and get better faster.
I have coached college soccer. I play professional indoor soccer and semi-pro outdoor soccer in Sacramento California.
