Bio

I’m Joyce and I graduated from UC Berkeley (Class of 2024) in 3 years, earning a B.A. in Psychology (with honors) and Cognitive Science, along with a minor in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. In high school, I graduated at the top of my class of over 600 students with a 4.65 weighted GPA. My academic background reflects my passion for helping students succeed and develop effective, confident study strategies.

I’m Joyce and I graduated from UC Berkeley (Class of 2024) in 3 years, earning a B.A. in Psychology (with honors) and Cognitive Science, along with a minor in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. In high school, I graduated at the top of my class of over 600 students with a 4.65 weighted GPA. My academic background reflects my passion for helping students succeed and develop effective, confident study strategies.

I have tutored since middle school and I know how to adapt to different students to help them effectively learn and absorb the material. Besides helping my students grasp material, I love connecting with my students and acting as a mentor for them. In addition to having expertise in various subjects, I am also extremely sociable and will do everything I can to help my students feel more confident before the next exam. Whether that be pinpointing strengths and weaknesses, or providing personalized practice outside of class, I am extremely flexible and will adapt to my student's needs.

In high school, I received A's in Pre-Calc, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and AP courses (Calc AB/BC, Chemistry, U.S. History). I also scored a 790 on SAT math.

I am a national AP Scholar and have received 5s on AP Psychology, AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, AP Chemistry, and AP U.S. History.

In college, I received A's in Math 1A/ Math 1B (calculus equivalents at UC Berkeley) and A's in psychology courses (biological, social, personality, clinical, cognitive, developmental).

I specialize in Algebra I/II, Trigonometry, AP Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, standardized math prep, AP Psychology, and AP U.S. History, among other subjects. I have not only helped my past students reach their desired academic goals (increase in letter grade, 5 on AP exam, etc.), but I have also tutored students of all ages ranging from elementary students to adults.

I also received a 5 in Calculus AB/BC on the AP test. At Berkeley, I had to take Calc 1 and 2 as a prerequisite again, where I also received As. I have helped the majority of my students receive a 5 on the AP exam, with over 75% of my calculus students receiving a 5 on the 2025 AP Calc AB/BC AP exam. I also provide extra practice for my students outside of class. I have extensive knowledge in both levels of calculus and I look forward to working with you!

Joyce has been very helpful in tutoring me in AP Pre-Calculus for the past few months. I first started going to her because I had a C in my class. By the end of my first semester, she had helped me bring my grade up to an A! On my final, I got a 95% after starting out the semester averaging 70’s without Joyce’s help. I usually see her before every big unit test that I have and we go over my review packets and she answers any questions that I have. She is very patient and explains things in a way that is much easier to understand than the way my actual math teacher teaches. If you are also struggling in this class, I would highly recommend Joyce!
