About Joyce

Bio

I'm Joyce and I graduated at the top of my high school class of over 600 people with a 4.65 weighted GPA. I recently graduated from UC Berkeley in 3 years with double major for a B.A. in psychology with honors, cognitive science, and a minor in clinical/counseling psychology. My qualifications mean that I am passionate about helping you succeed and study effectively.

I'm Joyce and I graduated at the top of my high school class of over 600 people with a 4.65 weighted GPA. I recently graduated from UC Berkeley in 3 years with double major for a B.A. in psychology with honors, cognitive science, and a minor in clinical/counseling psychology. My qualifications mean that I am passionate about helping you succeed and study effectively.

I have tutored since middle school and I know how to adapt to different students to help them effectively learn and absorb the material. Besides helping my students grasp material, I love connecting with my students and acting as a mentor for them. In addition to having expertise in various subjects, I am also extremely sociable and will do everything I can to help my students feel more confident before the next exam. Whether that be pinpointing strengths and weaknesses, or providing personalized practice outside of class, I am extremely flexible and will adapt to my student's needs.

In high school, I received A's in Pre-Calc, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and AP courses (Calc AB/BC, Chemistry, U.S. History). I also scored a 790 on SAT math.

I am a national AP Scholar and have received 5s on AP Psychology, AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, AP Chemistry, and AP U.S. History.

In college, I received A's in Math 1A/ Math 1B (calculus equivalents at UC Berkeley) and A's in psychology courses (biological, social, personality, clinical, cognitive, developmental).

I specialize in Algebra I/II, Trigonometry, AP Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, standardized math prep, AP Psychology, and AP U.S. History, among other subjects. I have not only helped my past students reach their desired academic goals (increase in letter grade, 5 on AP exam, etc.), but I have also tutored students of all ages ranging from elementary students to adults.

I have helped the majority of my students receive a 5 on the AP exam, with over 75% of my calculus students receiving a 5 on the 2025 AP Calc AB/BC AP exam. I also provide extra practice for my students outside of class. I have extensive knowledge in both levels of calculus and I look forward to working with you!

Throughout the Semester she has helped me become more confident and succeed in AP psychology. She helped to increase and retain my knowledge by creating practice quizzes for me and creating summarized notes. After every lesson I feel more prepared and confident in my knowledge.

Joyce has been very helpful in tutoring me in AP Pre-Calculus for the past few months. I first started going to her because I had a C in my class. By the end of my first semester, she had helped me bring my grade up to an A! On my final, I got a 95% after starting out the semester averaging 70’s without Joyce’s help. I usually see her before every big unit test that I have and we go over my review packets and she answers any questions that I have. She is very patient and explains things in a way that is much easier to understand than the way my actual math teacher teaches. If you are also struggling in this class, I would highly recommend Joyce!

Diligent and Pleasant Tutor

Joyce helped me before every test with practice questions and quick review, so I actually knew what to expect. She’s really on point and explains things in a way that makes hard topics make sense. If I’m confused, she’s patient and will go over it again until I get it, with review problems and practice. Because of her help, my test scores were steadily good and I’ve been getting really high grades. I’d definitely recommend Joyce to anyone who wants to do get better grades in school and feel confident before exams.
