Hello, my name is Matthew! I am an IB Diploma Candidate who recently graduated valedictorian from Diamond Bar High School and will be attending Brown University to study Health and Human Biology this fall. Since a young age, I've always had a passion for teaching and tutoring others, and this interest is what motivates me to pursue tutoring in high school. What I've learned throughout my over 250 hours of volunteer tutoring services spent after school and on weekends is that my biggest strength in tutoring is being able to understand students' learning styles and develop personalized learning plans and approaches to best suit them.
I began my tutoring journey in 2023 at the 501(c)3 nonprofit Biorithmetic, where I helped lead over 150 hours of STEM tutoring to middle school and high school students. Teaching weekly courses in AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Calculus AB and BC, I focused to introducing enrichment resources and supporting struggling students without access to test prep or other academic resources. Having been promoted to Vice President, I've worked to develop early curriculum in Biology and Chemistry to support students.
In early 2024, I started tutoring with Math Matters for All, delivering 50+ hours of individualized math instruction and designing lesson plans for students of all ages, K-12.
Around the same time, I became an officer in the California Scholarship Federation, where I logged over 100 hours tutoring 40+ students in in-person classroom settings. I taught math, chemistry, history, and English, and organized bi-monthly boot-camp style tutoring sessions, spending my Saturday mornings teaching Algebra II and Calculus.
I am easy to reach and have flexible hours. I am genuinely excited about supporting your learning journey. Please don't hesitate to reach out!
