Bio

I have over 1500 hours of tutoring experience with over 250 students ranging in age from 8 years old to 50 years old. My most common subjects are statistics, psychology, and mathematics, typically at the high school or college level.

I hold an MBA from UC Davis, graduating with a 3.98 GPA. While there I worked for a year and a half as a graduate teaching assistant. I also received two of the highest MBA awards - the Robert H Smiley Leadership and Newberry Leadership awards. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in education from the same school, graduating with high honors and a 3.97 GPA. I earned outstanding performance citations for both majors and a departmental citation for psychology for my contributions to the department.

I previously worked at UC Berkeley as an academic advisor at the Rausser College of Natural Resources. Through this position, I advised students on college preparation and transfer admissions, how to make the most of their college years, and effective resources and study skills to succeed at the university.

My tutoring is entirely based on students’ needs and goals. I am very patient with students, trying multiple approaches to each problem until we find one that works for the student. I try to make my sessions with students as efficient as possible, answering all specific questions while providing more context and practice beyond the scope of the assignment where it is necessary. I believe that all students can learn the subjects I tutor with adequate practice, and after meeting with me many students find that the course is more straightforward than they initially thought. Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing students learn to like a class that they have struggled with or get an A in a class they thought they would never pass.

I took the test on May 8th 2017. I scored a 169 on the Quantitative Reasoning Section, 163 on the Verbal Reasoning Section, and a 5 on the Analytical Writing Section. This means I am in the 94th percentile for Quantitative, 92nd percentile for Verbal, and 91st percentile for Writing.

I also worked as a research assistant for one year in a human development lab and as an assistant lab manager for the cognitive neuroscience lab. When we began scheduling tutor sessions with Anna, I had been working with my son on his homework by myself when I could fit it in. He was getting A's on his homework, but getting F's on all his tests and quizzes. It was incredibly frustrating. He wasn't retaining ANY of the information from our lessons. But within weeks of his tutoring sessions with Anna, I received an email from his teacher saying how proud she was of him for the improvements he has been making, and the confidence and comfort he now exudes.
